How can a church of thousands care for one another? Small groups, known as shepherd groups at Bethlehem, are the main way we support each other, grow in the Lord, and serve together. We urge everyone who considers Bethlehem home to get connected with a group.

How Do I Get Involved in a Group?

  • Search for a group that fits your schedule, demographic interest, and/or location with our Small Group Finder.
  • See a map display of all the open groups. Find further details about each group by looking at the listing in the Shepherd Group Directory (listed below).
  • Peruse our Shepherd Group Directory of open shepherd groups.
  • Consider leading a shepherd group yourself.

Our Small Groups Blog is devoted to providing ongoing inspiration, training, and resources for those caring for one another in small groups. Here we also highlight upcoming events, including shepherd meetings, leader training, and workshops.

Shepherd Groups at a Glance

  • 6-12 people who gather in one another's homes
  • meet at least twice a month
  • led by skilled leaders who receive ongoing support
  • balance worship, Bible study, sharing, prayer, and service
  • offer accountability and instruction; encourage personal evangelism & outreach
  • commit to developing new leaders and groups through apprenticeship

Resources and Support for Shepherd Leaders

  • We encourage all shepherd leaders to attend the monthly Shepherds Meeting at their campus (typically the 2nd Sundays of the month).
    • talk and pray with campus elders
    • gain encouragement and ongoing instruction from pastors or other leaders
    • share ideas, prayer, and camaraderie with fellow shepherd leaders
  • The Bethlehem Bookstore offers suggestions and discounts on resources for shepherd leaders. Contact the Bookstore (612-455-3440) for more details.
  • Shepherd leaders, use the Small Group Tool to update your group roster, track attendance, communicate with your group, and respond to inquiries.
